Logos

Whether you are looking for a Bible program to deepen your personal Bible study or you are a Ph.D looking to perform complex Hebrew morphological searches, Logos has the software for you.

Built on the Libronix Digital Library system, Logos offers users the ability to grow and expand their personal library at a great cost savings. Not only does using Logos save you money compared to buying print books, but all the books you add to your Logos collection are indexed to be incorporated in the search feature putting, potentially, thousands of books right at your finger tips.

An added bonus with Logos is the tutorial section of their website. With so much power available to the user, it is easy to miss out on some of the amazing features available to you. For this reason Logos has put together a library of online videos to help you get the most out of your software.

While Logos was built for windows based machines, they currently have a Mac version of their product available in Alpha testing.

Platform: Windows, Mac (currently in Alpha testing)
Price: $149.95 - $1379.95

I was required to purchase Logos for a seminary class and, for the most part, have enjoyed it. My biggest qualm was that I am a Mac user and I HATED having to boot windows up in order to run the program. Thankfully the mac version is coming out soon (I’ve been playing with the Alpha release). While I’ve thought about switching to Accordance, I’m pretty invested financially into Logos at this point, so I’m not so sure a switch would be a wise decision.

I am a huge fan of Logos. I was given a copy before I went to seminary and I did not realize what a valuable tool it would become for me. I do not think I would have received the grades I did in seminary if I had not been given Logos. I started out with the Scholar’s library and quickly upgraded to the Silver. I plan to go Gold as soon as I have the opportunity. I have limited experience with BibleWorks. Though BW is faster, I find Logos easier (more intuitive) to use when doing exegetical study.

If you are going to get a Bible software program; this is one. I have always had bits and pieces, but never a full package until Father’s Day. I started out with the Christian Home Library. This is more than sufficient for anyone who wants to go deeper in their study. The interface is awesome and easy to work with. Logos also provides video tutorials that are a great way to learn the functions of this powerful resource. I have since upgraded to the Leader’s Library and continued to be impressed.
